How to Choose Your Wedding Day Skincare Routine
You've done the medspa treatments, you've followed the plan, and your skin has never looked better. Now comes the final step: choosing the right wedding day skincare routine to ensure everything looks flawless from morning until night.
The Golden Rule: Wedding Day Is Not the Day to Try Anything New
Your wedding morning skincare routine should consist entirely of products you've been using consistently for at least 4 to 6 weeks and know your skin responds well to. No new serums, no new moisturizers, no new anything. Stick to your established routine.
Step 1: Gentle Cleanser
Cleanse with your regular gentle cleanser. Nothing stripping or exfoliating. Pat dry gently.
Step 2: Hydrating Serum
Apply your hyaluronic acid serum while skin is slightly damp to lock in hydration. This is your wedding day best friend — plumps, smooths, and creates the perfect canvas for makeup.
Step 3: Moisturizer
Use your regular moisturizer — ideally one you've been using for months. If your skin is a little reactive, choose your most gentle, barrier-supporting formula.
Step 4: SPF (Even Under Makeup)
Apply a lightweight SPF even on your wedding day. Outdoor ceremonies, flash photography, and all-day events can cause UV damage and oxidative stress. A lightweight SPF under foundation is completely manageable.
What to Skip on Wedding Day
- Vitamin C (can cause sensitivity in some people; use the night before instead)
- Retinol or retinoids (causes sensitivity — use 2 nights before, skip wedding eve)
- Acids or exfoliants of any kind
- Any new product or ingredient
The Night Before
The night before your wedding: apply your regular moisturizer with a few extra drops of face oil or a deeply hydrating overnight mask. Sleep on clean pillowcases. Wake up to your most beautiful skin.
